Our trip to Holland (1992)We biked to Amsterdam from Den Haag after renting our one-speed bikes at the train station of Den Haag. We loved the city of Amsterdam, full of canals and narrow and straight houses. It's a very unique place. There are many bike trails especially on the edge of the city. There is even trails and signal lights for bicycles only. Later on we sat near the Central train station. We needed to put some stuff in the lockers so we had to go there. We enjoyed people-watching in Dam Square, nearby we could see the spectacular Royal Palace and the very old New Church. Right in front of us walked a myriad of people. We also enjoyed going for a tour with those flat boats. Some people live on the canals and they grow vegetables right on the boats. We also wanted to go and visit the Van Gogh Museeum. People did not know where it was located. So, we just gave up. We had no interest in the Red-light district. It took us awhile to find the right bike trail out of town. Overall we had a great day. I would like to comeback. |
