Our Kayak Trip to Palm Key by Mormon Key

We went kayaking in this area in March of 2009. We were on our way to Turkey Key when we felt tired and we were also weary of the winds. There is no official camping there. We had booked our camping in Turkey Key but we felt better to stay there. There was plenty of room for our two tents in this tiny island. The only visitors we had there were a few racoons. We did some fishing and in less than an hour, I had caught a couple of sea trouts, a beautiful fish. unfortunately, it was to late to cook them and we let them go. I thought, next day we'll catch a few more and we'll have a feast but we did not have any luck. During the night, I forgot to close the my hatch from my kayak but fortunately the coons did not chew through my water bottles as they can do. Next day when we were leaving I could not find my box who contain all my expansive electronics. I saw footsteps that were not ours on the beach and I assume somebody had stolen it.

I had tears in my eyes thinking that I had lost maybe 1500 dollars of equipment but later I found it stashed in a corner of the kayak. I was so happy that I had to hug Ward.

Ward and I we had an argument, he wanted to quit and go back to Watson's, we were afraid that we will not be able to make it to our next campsite in the mangroves and we would not have anywhere to set our tent. We made a compromise and we decided to take it easy for the next few days. We went to Mormon Key and we spent a few wonderful days fishing.
